About Me
2021
I have been interested in acting for as long as I can remember; little did I know how intricate the techniques of the craft were. But the more I learned, the more I fell in love.
Shedding my skin and watching my inhibitions fall to the ground to become someone completely different, claiming their personalities, traits and quirks as my own, it is a rush unlike any other. My three years of study at The Open Window University have helped me disregard misconceptions of what it means to be an actor. I have been trained to embody every aspect of my character. I have been trained to become my character, as opposed to pretending to be them. It is fitting that both of my majors, Acting and Writing, fall within the humanities, for both have provided me with a new appreciation and affection for what it means to be human. To become my characters and write my characters (not to come across as creepy!) I have to watch real, living, breathing people. I need to be observant of the world around me: all of it, not just the good and the beautiful. I need to see the blood and bone that makes all of us... well, human. If it sounds a bit philosophical, I suppose that's because it is. Because that's what it takes to create real, believable characters and that is what I hope to accomplish: I want to raise a mirror to the world. |
